A taste of something different.
I would have to say that the most enjoyable family oriented weekends occur when families take themselves out of what they know and are accustomed to and experience something different together. Cape Charles, VA offers families that are used to big cities and suburbs a taste of the wilderness, with reasonable accommodations. Cherry Stone Park is the specific location in Cape Charles that I am referring to. This park has everything that a family can possibly need to enjoy a great weekend. The park is riddled with things to do. There are mini golf courses that are very family friendly, paddle boats which tend to be a kid favorite, ample bike riding paths, boat rentals, swimming pools, craft shops and daily activities that are fun for everyone. Since the park is on the Chesapeake Bay, fishing is definitely something to partake in and there is a bait & tackle shop on-site. There are even farm stand and sunset cruises.
